The Rectorate of the Pan African University has begun its relocation to Yaoundé, Cameroon.

The Rectorate of the Pan African University which was temporarily based at the African Union Commission (AUC) premises in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) since the foundation of PAU in 2011, has begun its relocation to Yaoundé, Cameroon. The decision to designate Cameroon to host the PAU rectorate was taken by the AU Heads of State and Government at the 24th Assembly of the African Union in January 2015. The official ceremony of the relocation took place in Yaoundé on 31 July 2018 with the participation of the Minister of Higher Education of Cameroon, Prof. Jacques Fame Ndongo, Cameroonian government officials and a high level delegation from the AUC. During the event, the keys of the PAU Rectorate were delivered to H.E Professor Sarah Anyang Agbor, Commissioner for Human Resources, Science and Technology of the African Union Commission, following the ribbon cutting ceremony. The Commissioner congratulated the Cameroonian Government for “having taken the bold step in hosting the Pan African University Rectorate and the Pan African University Institute for Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences”. By this ceremony, the PAU Rectorate has become operational in Yaoundé with staff progressively moving to the new premises from Addis Ababa.
